where science meets magic

What is osteopathy?

Restore function in the body by treating the cause of imbalance

An osteopathic manual practitioner (OMP) uses subtle manual techniques to facilitate the body’s natural healing response. Osteopathy supports everything from chronic and acute issues, overall lifestyle enhancement, and preventative and maintenance care. Manual techniques engage with the soft tissues of the varying systems of the body to facilitate release, restore and repair on a cellular level.

Osteopathy is based on the understanding that the body is a self-healing, self-regulating organism, and when your body is in balance, free of tension and restrictions, it can function and feel its best.

Osteopathic care can help with pain relief, posture and mobility, headaches and migraines, post-concussion, tmd, digestion, pre/post-surgery, sleep, and improving breathing patterns. It is a holistic way to unwind your body towards supporting your overall wellbeing.

OSTEOPATHY & PERSONAL TRAINING

EMPOWER YOUR path to vitality

welcome, I’m Zeena

My practice is inspired from a lifelong passion for the body, mind, and spirit. From an early age, I discovered that movement was more than just physical, it was my therapy, my medicine, and my way of connecting with the world.

I trained as an athlete and artist with two degrees in dance: a BFA in Dance from York University and a diploma in professional contemporary dance from l’École de danse contemporaine de Montréal. This foundation developed my sensitivity for deep body awareness, and the precision I now bring to my osteopathic practice.

In 2014, I began studying at the Canadian College of Osteopathy in Toronto, where I later defended my thesis on the influence of sound and breath on alpha brain frequencies and living tissues. I’m also a certified personal trainer, yoga teacher and reiki practitioner, which allows me to offer clients movement education, breathwork, energetic support, and personalized home care tools to support healing beyond the table.

My education alongside the philosophy of osteopathy bridges science and art. My treatments integrate a wide range of techniques: osteo-articular, craniosacral, visceral, myofascial, and biodynamics, as well as specific and tailored home-care practices to support your body’s natural ability to regulate, repair, and restore balance. Whether you’re recovering from injury, navigating chronic pain, or simply looking to move and feel better, I offer a calming, informed and supportive space to help you reconnect with your body and feel at home in it again.

FAQs

  • Many extended health plans offer reimbursement for osteopathic care. Coverage depends on your individual plan, so check with your provider.

  • Not currently. Osteopathy is not regulated under OHIP, but the Ontario Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners (OAO) is actively working toward regulation to increase accessibility.

  • Osteopathic care is safe for most people, but it’s important to share your medical history and any specific concerns. I tailor techniques to each individual to ensure safety and effectiveness.

  • Osteopathy takes a holistic, system-based approach. Rather than focusing only on the symptoms, it assesses potential causes of how different physiological systems (nervous, endocrine, digestive, myofascial, cardiovascular, lymphatic, energetic) interact and contribute to the dysfunction. The goal is to identify underlying patterns and restore optimal function throughout the body, supporting long-term balance and resilience.

  • A Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) is a fully licensed medical physician. With a holistic approach and additional manual therapy training, they can diagnose, prescribe medication, and perform surgery. An Osteopathic Manual Practitioner (OMP) does not diagnose, prescribe medication or perform surgery, but they do provide specialized, holistic care using osteopathic methods and manual techniques.

  • Osteopathic manual treatment is generally very safe. Some people may feel mild soreness, fatigue, or slight changes in movement after a session, which usually resolves within a day or two. Serious complications are rare, and techniques are always tailored to your health and comfort.

  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. Thin materials and natural fibers are preferred over thick, synthetic fabrics. Think cotton pyjamas.

  • Each session is personalized to your needs. You can expect hands-on techniques, guided movements, and sometimes breathwork, home-care exercises or gentle stretches. Manual techniques vary from more direct osteoarticular mobilisations, myofascial unwinding to more subtle biodynamics (working with the fluid and energetic systems). You may feel relaxed, notice subtle changes immediately, with improvements continuing over time.

  • Since osteopathy is not yet regulated in Canada, training programs vary widely in quality and depth. I chose a five-year, highly intensive program with extensive hands-on clinical experience, a whole-body, system-based approach, and a strong emphasis on physiology. I also defended a thesis research study and earned a diploma in science, ensuring my training was both evidence-informed and academically rigorous. Compared to many other programs, this education provided the highest standard of clinical and scientific preparation, allowing me to offer precise, holistic, and effective care.

  • Osteopathy is generally safe for most people, but it may not be appropriate for individuals with certain acute medical conditions, unstable fractures, uncontrolled bleeding disorders, or infections affecting the bones or soft tissues. It’s always important to disclose your full medical history before treatment so your practitioner can determine if osteopathy is safe and suitable for you.

  • Most sessions average around 60 minutes, depending on your needs and treatment plan. Frequency varies based on your condition and goals. For maintenance or minor discomforts, one may benefit from a single session every few months. For more complicated and layered issues, one may initially require more treatments more frequently (ex: 4 sessions spaced 1-2 weeks apart) and then adjust as their body responds.

  • Your personal health information is always kept private and secure in accordance with PIPEDA (Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act). All records are stored confidentially and accessed only for your care. I adhere to professional standards of ethics, safety, and consent, ensuring that every treatment respects your comfort, boundaries, and confidentiality.

  • Absolutely. My practice is a safe and welcoming space for all, inclusive of every race, gender identity, sexual orientation, body type, age, and ability. Everyone deserves compassionate care and to feel respected and seen in their healing journey.

  • Appointments are reserved just for you. I kindly ask for 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Missed or late cancellations may be subject to a fee. Treatments are provided with your informed consent and professional discretion, and results may vary based on individual needs.
